About Us
Parting Goodbyes' Goals
Parting Goodbyes was built with the aim to create an accessible platform that empowers Singaporeans to easily identify and make appropriate choices for their funeral arrangements. Singaporeans should know that they can send their loved one off with respect at any price range, and spend their time instead on caring for themselves and their loved ones.
This directory is the first step toward building transparency, and I firmly believe that the solution is greater communication between funeral directors and Singaporeans, and to work together to improve the industry.

About Me
When my father passed in 2016, I was too young to understand his funeral arrangements. I remembered tentage being set up, the casket brought in, and a bus chartered to Mandai, but I was fortunate enough to be able to focus on grieving, and not its logistics.
As I grew older, the reality that my mum, having kids to take care of, and a husband to grieve, had to arrange them on her own, was a sorrowing thought.

Singapore's Funeral Industry
I began looking up the logistics of funeral planning, curious to find out what my mum had to do back then, and I came across the market study by the CCCS (Singapore's Competition Authority), and the Association of Funeral Director’s subsequent response.
In short, transparency is an issue in that prices are not often readily available, and sometimes the final price greatly exceeded the quoted price at the initial point of contact.
It is easy to vilify the funeral directors as some have, but I understand that it’s a complex product – customisability is an important element to any funeral, and communicating decisions is often hard in the state of grief, for both the funeral directors and next-of-kin.
